Anupam Gupta

I am a Junior at the University of Washington, Seattle pursuing Computer Science and Human Centered Design and Engineering as my majors. I plan on pursuing my passion for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and Web Programming to bring about a positive change in the society around me.

I harbor a deep love for Programming and am drawn to problem-solving algorithms and efficiency reducing strategies. At present, I have six years of Java Programming experience and am concurrently learning Python and C#. I am also adept at combining various components from JavaScript, HTML, CSS, AJAX, PHP and SQL in order to create a fully functional application or website.

As a research assistant at the Databases Lab in the Paul G Allen School for Computer Science, I am actively learning how to have a certain software implements different hardware decoders. My research focusses on enabling HEVC/H265 video decoding on a Chromium browser that is built on an Android Operating System. This component requires a lot of debugging, reading already written C++ code and enhancing different components so that certain components of the video and audio in tiles can be supported without stopping.

My leadership experiences as the Teaching Assistant for CSE 120(Introduction to Programming and Logical Thinking) and CSE 373( Data structures and Algorithms), Head of Husky Experience at McMahon Hall Council (MacCity) and a Physics tutor at CLUE (Center for Learning and Undergraduate Enrichment), as well as a Computer Science and Mathematics tutor at SAIER (Student Association for Informational and Educational Resources) at Maple Hall, have given me the unique opportunity to hone on my people skills and develop on my time, event and resource management skills.

I am optimistic and willing to learn from the opportunities presented to me along the way and am ardently looking for internships to apply my knowledge and experiences to help in making a difference.
