OCReadable

ROLE: Website Developer

About

OCReadable is a website designed to spread awareness about Print Media inaccessibility for the Print Disabled Individual in an educational setup. Through user research, we found that in college settings, print media that was often distributed by professors was not in a format that OCR Softwares could interpret using their algorithms. This often caused a major issue since people who couldn't read the text directly then couldn't interpret the text. OCReadable as a project that was targetted towards Professors to spread awareness about this issue and to provide them with a tool so they can test and judge whether the documents they're pushing out will be accessible to everyone. OCReadable provides a score based ranking system and an inbuilt OCR running tool so people can add their file and receive a score for their document as well as suggessitons on how the document could be improved. Since the website is being pursued professionally and being further improved by one of the contributors to the project, it does not have a publicly available webpage yet.
