CardLess

ROLE : Back-End Product Developer

About

Cardless is a service developed during Dubhacks 2016 that was targetted to secure payment privacy. In a world where people have several portals(companies whose services we're using) which require their credit/debit card details, there is a genuine concern about credit card information being retreived from any of these sources without our knowledge. Cardless acts as a single point interface between the user and the different portals that need access to the user's bank details. The service works by issuing centrally issued virtual credit cards that can be used to prevent real credit card data being revealed in case of data leaks in any of the portals. CardLess provides valid virtual credit/debit card details that can be provided to different vendors while still maintaining privacy of your personal credit card. All purchases are still billed off your personal credit card, however, in case of a data leak, your personal information is secure. As a Developer on this project, I worked closesly with setting up databases for the vritual issue of credit cards as well as implemented the front end prototype GUI that users could use to understand how the service would work. Cardless was very well received by the judges and participants at the Hackathon and received a special note for a good idea and good execution by the judges.
